The Process

First...

Let's get to know each other! I will want as many details about your wedding as possible. We can discuss details over the phone or I can send a questionnaire that lists everything I need to know. I will also send a proposal that will require both of our signatures and will allow you to make your first deposit. A 50% deposit will reserve your date and the final payment will not be due until one month prior to the wedding. We will then need to decide on the subject of the painting. The two most popular options would be the ceremony or the first dance. I can discuss this with you and give you the main differences for both. After you have made your subject choice you are done! I will connect with your wedding planner and we will take care of the remaining details.

Next...

Wedding day is here! I will need a 5x5' space, chair and access to an outlet for the easel light. An hour before the event, I will begin to set the scene on canvas and paint throughout the duration of your event. This is when the magic happens! Guests are welcome to interact and take pictures as they watch the painting come to life. I will use acrylic paints because they are odorless and dry almost instantly. While you will be impressed with what is completed at the end of the night, and your guests may think it is finished,  it is not complete. I will take it back to my studio for further work.  I will take photographs of the bride and groom next to the painting and will allow your guests to take as many pictures as they wish.

Then...

You're Married!!!   We made it all the way to wedding day and now I will take the painting to my studio to be finished in high quality oil paint. I will spend hours adding in as many details as space allows. If someone needs to be added to the painting this is the time to make the request.  I will work diligently to have your painting finished in under three weeks.

Finally...

Approximately, three short weeks after you say "I do!" I will send a photograph of the final painting. At this time, you may order canvas & paper prints, as well as, note cards of the final painting.  We will anxiously wait for your painting to dry (one week) and I will coat the painting with a UV archival varnish. I will paint the sides of the canvas and add a hanging wire.  I will box your painting with protective foam, ship USPS (signature required), and will send you the tracking number.  Before you know it, you will have a beautiful, tangible memory of your wedding that will grace your home for years to come.

"Laura Martindale Welch is a true talent and a dream to work with from start to finish. She'll captivate your guests while painting a scene of your choice. You'll be mesmerized by her fine attention to detail from your wedding dress, the emotion of your guests, to lighting and floral design."
